If there was one facade that served as an iconic reminder of Savin Rock Amusement Park for those of a certain age, it had to be the clown face that bedecked the Laff in the Dark that stood on Beach Street. The “horror” ride was a popular stop during a trip to the old park. The ride was torn down with urban renewal in the 1960s, but remains a memory for many.

Familiar sight
Weather forecasters are telling us what we’ve suspected since about the middle of April – the drought is over throughout Connecticut. Since January, the state, and particularly the coastline, has experienced higher-than-normal precipitation. Last week was a good example, as below- average temperatures kept jackets at the ready, and people walked around with a bumbershoot in case of rain. This was taken over the weekend.
